SAYALI GHOTIKAR

I’ve had the privilege of designing cover art for three beautiful songs—two rooted in Indian classical and devotional music, and one contemporary original.
Each project allowed me to visually interpret the emotion, mood, and story behind the music. From traditional themes to modern expressions of love and longing, I approached each design with care, cultural sensitivity, and a strong connection to the sound and spirit of the song. Whether inspired by the rhythms of an early morning raga, the soulful devotion of an Abhang, or the quiet ache of a contemporary ballad—these artworks are where sound meets story through color and form.

MUSIC COVER DESIGNING

RAGA GUNAKRI
%20copy.jpg)
This illustration was created for Raga Gunkari, an Indian classical raga traditionally sung in the morning. Performed beautifully by Dr. Uttara Chousalkar,
the raga centers around the symbolism of the crow as a messenger of love.
To visually interpret its mood and message, I used a bright color palette with a strong emphasis on yellow to evoke the warm glow of morning. The illustration style is inspired by Indian Miniature Painting, incorporating intricate patterns and narrative elements that reflect the raga’s gentle, poetic spirit.

SANTANCHE VACHANI - AN ABHANG

SANTANCHE VACHANI – AN ABHANG

Santanche Vachani – An Abhang in Visual Form
This artwork was created for Santanche Vachani, an Abhang composed and sung by
Dr. Uttara Chousalkar.
An Abhang is a form of devotional poetry—lyrical compositions sung in praise of Lord Vitthal by saints of the Bhakti movement, especially in Maharashtra. Deeply rooted in rhythm and emotion, Abhangs are both meditative and ecstatic, expressing devotion, surrender, and a profound sense of divine oneness.
To reflect this spiritual and cultural richness, I chose a brown earthen color palette—symbolic of simplicity, devotion, and a grounded connection to Indian tradition. The visual style draws inspiration from traditional forms, echoing the timeless voices of the saints through texture, tone, and composition.

HEARTLESS
HEARTLESS

Heartless is written, composed, and sung by Arundhati Deshmukh.
While designing this artwork, I drew from the song’s themes of longing and the quiet pain of love. To capture this emotional depth, I used shades of blue and a subtle tone of grey—evoking a sense of melancholy, reflection, and emotional stillness. The photographs used in the artwork were taken by me, adding a personal layer to the visual storytelling.
